The Issue: After many years of use, the home football field of the Chardon Hilltoppers was due for a replacement. Plus, the school wanted to raise the quality level of its infilled synthetic turf.
The Job: Having constructed Chardon’s previous field base, the athletic field experts at Sports Construction Group were once again turned to by the Hilltoppers for this turf replacement. The project was particularly challenging because the old turf and infill had to be carefully removed so that the rubber padding system beneath would remain intact.
Once complete, SCG installed its Signature Plus turf, which the Hilltoppers selected because of the stability and durability that was associated with its root zone layer. The turf has long fibers, along with shorter nylon thatch fibers, which hold the rubber infill in place to reduce splash.

The Results: “It was great working with SCG. They were extremely prompt, professional and thorough; they left no stone unturned and met their deadlines,” said Tim Armelli, Chardon High School athletic director. “The work crews were very knowledgeable. And when I had questions, they clearly explained things.”
 “As for the turf, it’s performed great. The coloring and design are fabulous. Everyone loves it and raves about it. The field’s become a real central part of our school’s fabric.”
